We got back late Saturday from a wonderful trip to Monterey for Nick's graduation. Following the style of Lindsay, Callie & Randi, you are going to the trip in segments. Or 1 leg at a time.
I left work at 12:00 on Tuesday the 7th. When I got home I finished packing and loaded my clothes and Ron's in the motorhome. Kristi got here a little later with the food for the trip. She planned the entire menu. We did not eat like we were on the road. No fast food for us. We were well feed. Kristi ran home to get Cliff and the girls. We all met back here about 2:00. Zach got home about the same time with bad news. He got laid off. I felt bad leaving Ashley. Well we finally hit the road about 2:45. 1st stop the Flying J truck stop on 67th & I-10. Fuel, propane & water. 45 minutes later we were on the road again. The girls loved traveling in the motorhome. No car seats just laying on the couch or bed and watching movies. When they were tried of that it was Barbies, coloring and food. Kristi says it is the only way to travel with small kids (thanks Susie). Our next stop was Erenberg for the last gas in Arizona before we cross into California prices. We stops after fuel and Kristi pulled out dinner. BBQ pork sandwiches with 3 different side salads. I drove from there until we got to Beaumont which is between L.A. and Palm Springs.
After Kristi and Cliff got the girls to sleep we switched drivers and Cliff took over a little after 9:00. I tried to go to sleep in the bad bedroom. But the girls were on that bed and I kept getting little feet in my back. Jenny and Katie took turn kicking Grandma. I finally gave up and went and sat on the floor up front with Cliff and Kristi. Ron was asleep on the floor. We made it to our destination of Buellton (North of Santa Barbara) at 12:30. We got off the freeway and parked on a side street along with a half dozen or so truckers and called it a night.
