The Big Sting
Today CUSD transportation was part of a police sting. 6 motorcycle cops and an unmarked car were at the compound at 5:30. At 6:30 a police officer and 3 TV news camera men boarded one of our buses. The officer in the bus was looking for stop arm runners. Half way through the morning routes the officer switched buses. Nothing happened on the first bus. On the second bus a woman ran the stop arm. The officer on the bus radioed one of the motorcycle cops. Wow a ticket in the making. The driver said that same car had run her stop arm almost everyday last week. Later on in the route a bicyclist ran the stop arm. Another radio call and the bicyclist got a ticket too. The news people were surprised that the bike guy could get a ticket for running the stop arm. The Officer told them that when they use the street they must abide by all the traffic rules. I know we have all seen then pick and chose what laws they want to follow. It was really cool to see one get nailed. The 2 drivers were interviewed by the TV stations. I didn't watch the news tonight, so I don't know if it got any air time. The Chandler PD was happy. They are planning another sting. I'm just not sure when.
