I'm not into politics very much. I don't like reading about it. I find it very negative. About the only thing I keep up with is the state budget as that affects the school budget. Not that I am afraid of losing my job (I am the only routing at CUSD). I just worry what I might have to cut from our routes. Well any way a bill was brought to my attention today by a friend of mine that is catholic. The Freedom of Choice Act is in congress right now. If it makes it to the presidents desk he has promised to sign it. The Freedom of Choice Act is an abortion bill. It makes abortion legal at any stage of pregnancy. It also makes it illegal for any hospital or doctor to refuse to perform abortions. Hospitals and doctors will not have a choice. If they refuse they will be breaking the law. Since hospitals will no longer have a choice, Catholic Health care has said they will shut their door if they are forced to perform abortions. That means 40% of our hospitals will close their doors. That will kill health care in our nation. I can just see the costs skyrocketing. So I am writing my Senators and Congressmen and urging them to vote against the Freedom of Choice Act. Can it really be called a Freedom of Choice when only those people wanting abortions have a choice. Shouldn't the freedom of choice go both ways?
I am now returning the soap box to its rightful owner.
