Ron and I are trying to adapt to our future empty nest. To help us prepare we ran away to San Diego for the week-end. We left Friday afternoon a little before 1:00. We stayed at the Bahia resort on Mission Bay. It is a very nice resort with a private beach. Saturday we had breakfast at Seaport Village, lunch at a place on Mission Beach, and back to Seaport Village for dinner. We did a whole lot of nothing. It was wonderful. Just kicking back and spending time with each other. Sunday morning was more of the same before the ride home. We have decided we will need to do this every couple of months. But check out a different resort/hotel each time.
When Ashley, Zach and Madie move in the end of May our nest won't exactly be empty, but our parental responsibilities will still be empty Nester's. So we intend to make the most of it. Maybe the real feeling of empty nest will happen in a few years when they move out. Right now it is the best of both worlds.

With as much as I've been seeing you lately, it's practically an empty nest for you already! But it sounds like you had fun, and that's awesome. That would be fun to be able to do every couple of months.
I concur! Nick and I use to take a trip in the winter every year up north and that was always a nice time just the two of us :)
With all your kids and grandkids so close to home, I don't think you'll ever really have to worry too much about an empty home :)
I'm jealous !!
