I finished my September and October blocks this week. I am not a fan of curved piecing. Mostly because there are so many pieces to cut out. I really hate cutting.
I changed up the Cleopatra's puzzle. I didn't think it went well with my other blocks. This reminds me of spinning fireworks.
October blocks were paper pieced. Amy Gibson is not a great paper piecing teacher. I didn't like that she did not indicate sizes for cutting the fabric. Just make it half an inch bigger all the way around. Would really be that difficult to say "cut a 7 inch by 2 1/2 inch strip for # 6". By the way, those aren't the real dimension.
I changed up the "flying geese" block. I didn't want that much white. So instead of using white for the background I used it for the geese. It gives the block a totally different look. Instead of focusing on the geese, your eyes go to the star in the center.
Ron thinks the October blocks look like Chinese throwing stars. Next month we assemble the top. Excited to see how it turns out.
